T.K. writes: The people behind claims-handling company European Mediation Limited, which you wrote about recently, are still working. I have been called by Day Cooper Adams Limited and although it says it is based in Hanover Square, central London, its phone number is 0161 350 0090, which is the Manchester area number for European Mediation. I have paid £580 for help in recovering premiums I paid for payment protection insurance that was mis-sold to me. I have in writing that I am due a refund, but despite promises, nothing arrives.

Q & A – Bailiffs

A Bailiff must be legally authorised to collect the debt on behalf of the creditor. If the Bailiff is recovering money owed under a County Court Judgement-CCJ, that authority is normally known as a “Warrant, or Warrant of Execution.”
If the Bailiff is working for a Magistrates Court to collect unpaid council tax, outstanding fines, compensation or unpaid maintenance he/she will be working on either a “Distress Warrant” or a “Liability Order” Normally Private firms of Bailiffs are used by Magistrates courts and Councils to execute such warrants or Orders.
